The House of Lorne has ruled [[Telarus]] since overthrowing the [[HouseCairn House of Cairn]] in 749. [[Telarus]] and [[Ironnesse]] have prospered under their rule, but that is primarily due to their connections with the [[TelarusTradingGuild Telarus Trading Guild]].

Historically, the family controlled the southern leeward section of Telarus, but they added the Cairn lands around [[TheLadysWell The Ladys Well]] when they assumed power.  The family's base of power is now [[Ironnesse]].

The current king, [[VincentLorneII King Vincent Lorne II]], is the fifth king of the Lorne dynasty. His most notable accomplishment so far during his reign will be the hosting of the [[GreatGames Great Games]].

Each of the six Houses of [[Telarus]] has a detachment of loyal house guards serving as part of the [[Ironnesse]] City Guard, per the terms of the [[TreatyoftheWell Treaty of the Well]]. These guard are only lightly armed and armored, but are well trained. The House Of Lorne Guard are well trained with both quarterstaff and the whip. They are loyal first to the House of Lorne, and secondly to the city.>>

[[HouseCairn The House of Cairn]] - given that Lorne is responsible for the overthrow and subsequent exile of Cairn, relations between the two houses are downright hostile.
